Arboretum Workshops

The Arboretum’s Spring and Summer 2020 workshops are open for registration. Below is a list of upcoming workshops, and the complete description of each one can be found on our website.

Note, due to the current COVID-19 situation, we are changing how we will be booking our workshops for the next little while. If you are interested in coming to a workshop, please go to our registration page, pick the workshop, and then click the hour glass icon to sign up for our wait list.

This will add your name and e-mail to a waiting list (with no credit card info needed). We will contact you closer to the time of your chosen workshop to give you the opportunity to complete your registration if the workshop is running. If the workshop is postponed to a later time, we will let you know.

We thank you all for your patience as we work to keep everyone safe but still provide future educational opportunities.

Click here for the secure registration link: https://www.uoguelph.ca/arboretum/educationandevents/register

*Please note that we are keeping a close eye on the news as the public health situation emerges, and the Arboretum will follow the University of Guelph’s protocols, which can be found here: https://news.uoguelph.ca/2019-novel-coronavirus-information/

Spring Quiz

by Chris Earley

To help say good-bye to Old Man Winter, it's time for our annual spring quiz. Here are some close ups of creatures that usually first show themselves in March after an absence all winter. Can you figure them out? The answers and full photos of each animal are below.

From the Director's Office

historic photo of grounds
The Arboretum circa 1977.

Visiting today, it’s hard to believe that the OAC Centennial Arboretum Centre once stood in the middle of an open field. So many people had a literal hand in growing this land into the inspiring hub for research, learning, and outreach that it is today. In the coming months, I look forward to sharing some of the fascinating history and stories held in the Arboretum archives.

Wednesday Walks

Join Kitty and Jenny Wednesdays at 12:15 for the Wednesday walk as they explore the grounds on a 50 minute hike. It is a wonderful way to explore The Arboretum grounds as nature begins to awaken for spring. The walk is free and you should meet at the kiosk at the end of the promenade closest to campus if you are interested in participating.
