Spring is here and if you look for the standing water you can find some forest ephemeral pools. There is one at the kiosk end of Wild Goose Woods and it is once again full of pond invertebrates to be discovered! Can you identify any of these spring critters? The answers are at the bottom of the newsletter.

Last week was National Volunteer Week. The Arboretum has many volunteers that contribute their time and knowledge to help make The Arboretum what it is. They and all they do are tremendously appreciated. Thank you to all the Arboretum volunteers for helping The Arboretum grow!

The Arboretum’s grounds are the perfect setting for group tours. Our knowledgeable docents (trained volunteer guides) give pre-arranged 1 ½ hour tours of The Arboretum’s grounds, gardens, collections and other points of interest. The tours can be focused on the areas that are seasonally appropriate and / or that are of interest to you and your group. Tours should be booked a minimum of 2 weeks in advance. The cost is $5 per person, with a minimum charge of $60. Tours provide an excellent break for a meeting group. For further information on tours or to make a reservation please contact Dawn Ann Webster at [log in to unmask] or 519-824-4120 ext. 54110.

Join Sally Wednesdays at 12:15 for the Wednesday walk as she explores the grounds on a 50 minute hike. It is a wonderful way to explore The Arboretum grounds as nature begins to awaken for spring. The walk is free and you should meet at the kiosk at the end of the promenade closest to campus if you are interested in participating.
